On Saturday 20th April we will travel to mid Wales to face Llanidloes in our penultimate league match of the season, the match will kick off at 2pm.
Llanidloes is located in the county of Powys, and as the town’s website says; “Llanidloes is at the heart of the ancient medieval kingdom of Arwystli; the first town on the River Severn and the gateway to the Cambrian Mountains of mid Wales in the United Kingdom”.
More practically, Llanidloes sits just off the A470 about eight and a half miles south of Caersws. Llanidloes’ ground is called Victoria Park and its postcode is SY18 6AS
Llanidloes Town are a club with a long history, they can trace their history back to 1875 because the record books show that they played a match against fellow mid Walian team Newtown on Christmas Day of that year.
They have also won the Welsh Amateur Cup on several occasions and were founder members of the League of Wales in 1992. They were promoted to the JD Cymru North in 2020 after winning Mid Wales Division 1.
Returning to the more recent past, we faced the Daffs in our first ever Tier 2 League fixture last July. As you may remember 1876 won 6-0 in the sunshine thanks to a McGonigle triple, a Galeotti double and a Sam Jones single.
Weather permitting, we will complete our inaugural season in tier 2 with another away trip next Tuesday (23rd April). Next week we will travel to Central Park to face Denbigh Town and the match will kick off at 7.30pm.
Please support our team on this away double if you can.
