3 points secured against a tough Welshpool side

Yesterday saw the seniors play the third league match of the season after a free week due to FAW Cup fixtures. In a windy and rainy Bethesda the team adapted to the conditions to come away with a good home win againt a disciplined and robust Welshpool side.

Commenting after the match manager Jonny Batten said:
"Would like to thank Welshpool on making the long journey to Plas Ffrancon today. Would also like to thank their squad in honouring the minute silence in respect of Lexi’s father who passed away this week.

Welshpool definitely gave us a game, made us scrap for the result today. The weather didn’t help either as it didn’t allow us to play the football we wanted to play. It took us time to work it out, settle into the game, adapt and get going. Yes we created some great chances, hit the cross bar, shots just over or narrowly wide. Credit to the opposition they were in our faces, gave us no time to get the ball down and play and frustrated us to the end. Instead we got drawn into a scrappy stop -start game and the football wasn't pretty at times but the team worked hard and dug deep to earn the win which was well deserved. We were posed different questions today and came out on top. That’s why I’m proud of them. They had to demonstrate real grit and determination and showed us they can pull out a result in different conditions and circumstances.

Jordan was on form today, Becca looked in complete control, the defence although were make shift really stood up to the challenge and we limited Welshpool to maybe a couple of half chances which Becca dealt with easily. Great to see Ceri Lois grabbing a couple of goals too! Still we continue to learn and develop and we know there is a lot more work to be done. Definitely not the performance in our play that we wanted but we got the result and that’s what matters at the end of the day. So we'll take it, move on, prepare and focus on our next game away to Rhyl (Sunday, 10th October ) which will be another tough test and a different proposition again for us."
