Clean sheet and a dozen goals against Llanystumdwy

Yesterday saw the womens team play their first home game of the season at Bethesda and come away with a fine win against newly formed Llanystumdwy.

Coach Aron Griffiths who took charge of the team in manager Jonny Batten's absence said:

"Thanks to Llanystumdwy on making the journey to Bethesda. It was a competitive game and they didn't make it easy on us. Having said that we impressed our game on them from the off and it was a good solid performance from the girls today start to finish. To go out there and give it 110% is all I ask.

We got that early goal from and we just built on that and never let up. It was unfortunate to see Ffion coming off with a knee injury and the team had to refocus quickly which they did. We're hoping she's back soon as she's been on fire for us. We played a different system today and the team embraced and adapted to it well with goals coming from across the team. The defence was solid throughout but we defended well as a whole team and we kept that all important clean sheet as well.

The intensity of play and workrate from the girls today was high and we created a lot of chances and were unlucky hitting the post and bar few times and good saves from their keeper. The passing was good from the back and the diagonal balls across for one of our goals was practiced in training so it's nice to see the work we do in training is paying off. Yes again things to work on but hat's off to the team as they all played some superb football and I couldn't fault them today. "

Reflecting on team's performance Dani Barnfield, Team captain said:
"I think we got off to a slow start yesterday, but the early goals we grabbed helped settle any nerves. As the game went on you could see the team growing in confidence which is reflected in the goals that followed. The best thing about the performance was the effort the girls put in, and credit must go to the opposition who also gave the game everything they had. I’d like to wish Ffion a speedy recovery following her injury yesterday. I’m personally gutted for her as she has started the season brilliantly, but I know she’ll be back stronger."
