A point each a fair result against a tough Amlwch side

Sunday saw the seniors take on Amlwch in a tight match which ended in our first league draw of the season.

In a tough game throughout against a very good Amlwch side, it was the home side who had the better of the first half with 1876 the more dominant in the second but neither team could make the breakthrough.

Reflecting on the match, manager Aron Griffith said:

"A very hard game for us today, competitive and edgy with both teams going for it. Yes, it wasn’t the result we hoped for before the match, but it was a fair one for both teams I'd say.

Again, I didn't think we got going until the second half for some reason and we had to change our initial formation as it wasn't working for us. We did have chances but were unlucky or didn’t make the most of them. At times I thought we could have made slightly better decisions in forward areas at key moments which on another day might have won us the game. But we'll take that on board as coaches and work on it. However, the same could be said by Amlwch in that first half particulary with Becca making some super saves to keep us in it.

So we can't really complain about the result today and we're pleased with elements of our performance. The team gave everthing on that pitch today but we just didn't have quite enough or get that little bit of luck needed to sneak the win. Amlwch are a very good side as you saw today so it was never going to be easy. Nevertheless there was still plenty of positives to take from the game and we'll focus on those and take them into our final game of the season next weekend.

We said to the team a few weeks ago that we needed to end this season on a high (after a disappointing cup performance) and to be fair to them they've responded to the challenge we set them. So we'll move on from this game now and focus on our next match. I want us to keep going, build on this performance and maintain our recent unbeaten run of games . We need to be ending our first season on a real positive and finish as high up this league as we can so its all to play for again next weekend.

I just want say thanks to Amlwch for the reception after the game and all the best to them for the remainder of the season, I think they've still got a few more games to play than us. Also want to wish our u16s girls team all the best in the NWCFA Cup final on Tuesday versus Caernarfon. "

Captain Heledd Evans added:
"Coming to Lôn Bach is always difficult, knowing that they always get a good crowd watching but with that potential 3rd place in the league up for grabs for both teams it made it even more of an occasion.

It was an even game, both teams sharing possession with Amlwch trying to take advantage of the long ball to their striker. A superb performance from Becca in goal ensured the game ended in a goalless draw, and thanks to Amlwch for their hospitality post match.

We're away again to Llanystumdwy next week in what will be the last game of the season so come and show your support! "
