Manager pleased with win and second half performance

Yesterday saw the Seniors back to league action against Llangefni, looking to bounce back from last weekends semi final cup exit.

In a competitive game throughout, 1876 came out on top with a 4-2 away victory with 2 goals from Ceri Lois and goals from Jordan Roberts and Lisa Thomas.

Speaking about the win, manger Aron Griffith commented:

"We reflected on last weeks game and performance and have challenged the team to end our season on a high, so really pleased with the 3 points today.

It didn't start as planned with Llangefni taking a deserved lead but we responded straight away. Llangefni are a good side with quality players and its never easy to play against them. At times they caused us problems in that first half to be fair and rattled the crossbar.

We chatted about a couple things at half time and tweaked a few things. I think we woke up going into the second half and played some brilliant football, kept more possession, created chances and earnt the win. Everyone pulled their weight and didn’t stop. I loved the passion from the girls today and seeing what the win meant to them.

Our goals were well worked. It was great to see Ceri Lois back in action and bagging two goals after coming back from injury.

We now need to move on quicky and focus on next weekends game against a strong Northop side. Thanks to Llangefni for that brilliant game today and wish them well for the remainder of the season."

Assistant Manger, Lois Regan added:
"It was a tough game, Llangefni came out and made it difficult for us first half and we couldn't get our game plan going as we got sucked into their game and they didn't allow us to play. But we started playing more football in the second half and got what we deserved. The girls should be proud of the performance."

A pleased Heledd Evans who captained the side commented:

"Top 4 finish secured! After a few tough weeks and some disappointments we went into the game really wanting to get a result to secure ourselves a top 4 finish.

The club’s system of integrating younger players to the senior team is paying off. We had a few key players missing today, and some U19’s players had to step up and they showed why they deserved their place in this team.

We created many chances today but we just couldn't convert and our ethos of playing simple football, ball to feet and pass and move particulary in that second half proved to be the key to getting the result that we needed.

Plenty of positives to take from today’s game, and we’re geared up to next week’s away match to Northop Hall. A special thanks to the vocal 1876 family for travelling to Llangefni to support us it really spurred us on."
