Sunday saw the senior team back in league action against Trearddur Bay and ended up with a convincing 8-1 home win with captain Dani Barnfield notching up a first half hat-trick.
The visitors made it a tough game and it took us a while to make the breakthrough, but once they did the home team took full control. Elin Jones opened the scoring on 28 minutes from a Jordan Roberts assist followed by four goals in six minutes with Dani netting one in open play and two from the penalty spot and Awel Ellis making it 5-0 at the break to put the game beyond the visitors. Jordan Roberts added a sixth early in the second half before Lia Huws hit back for Trearddur Bay. Mia Roberts and Awel Ellis nabbed further goals on 66 and 75 minutes respectively.
Commenting on the win, Manger Aron Griffith had this to say:
"Firstly thank you for Trearddur Bay on making the journey down to Plas Ffrancon and for a brilliant game. It was a tough game for us after weeks without playing and they didn't make it easy on us at all and the game was competitive in the right way.
I felt it would be just a matter of time though as we kept knocking on the door so to speak. They held out to be fair, made it very difficult for us with their keeper and defence saving or blocking everything and frustrating us. Having said that credit to the team they found a way to break them down and once that first goal went in we relaxed into it and it flowed from then on as we dominated the play.
So we're pleased to get the 3 points obviously but based on that performance from the team it was well deserved to be fair. I can't fault the players today , they gave it everything and did exactly what we asked of them. More importantly for me and the other coaches I think seeing what we've being working on in training for the past few weeks being implemented on the pitch was so satisfying.
We kept the ball well, was patient and didn't force the play but held on to it and played some really elegant football at times. We controlled the game start to finish and our set pieces came off as well so overall we're happy with that performance which we've got to build on now and take it forward to our next match. "
