Two goals from Jamie Petrie and one from Les Davies maintains Bangor 1876's 100% record in a 3-1 win over CPD Nefyn United

On a warm afternoon in the Treborth sunshine, Bangor 1876 maintained their 100% start to the season despite falling behind to an early Carl Jones strike for visitors Nefyn United.

As early as the second minute, the in-form Dylan Summers-Jones flashed an effort across the face of the Nefyn goalmouth in a frenetic opening to the match.

The visitors, playing with purpose, went ahead in the thirteenth minute as player-manager Carl Jones' left-footed half volley beat Bangor 'keeper Leon Jones to give the visitors the lead.

The reply was almost instantaneous as Jamie Petrie was up-ended inside the penalty area and duly stepped up to dispatch his spot kick into the bottom left hand corner with Nefyn 'keeper Dafydd Jones well beaten.

Nefyn survived a penalty appeal on 18 minutes as Dylan Summers-Jones went to ground under challenge. However, it was Nefyn who threatened next as Leon Jones had to be at his best to tip over skipper Daniel Roberts' rasping drive on 26 minutes.

The home side then took the lead on the half hour mark as Les Davies' cross from the left hand side found the head of Jamie Petrie at the far post to make the scoreline 2-1 to Bangor 1876.

Five minutes later, Dylan Williams and Jos Lloyd combined well before the former Nefyn player saw his effort saved by goalkeeper Jones.

Two minutes before the break, Les Davies' power drive rattled the Nefyn crossbar after good approach play from young central midfielder Cameron Barry.

Bangor 1876 manager Mel Jones made an enforced change at the interval with Luke Steele replacing right back Jamie Thomas.

In the 57th minute, Leon Jones saved acrobatically as Nefyn player-manager Jones unleashed a fierce free kick from 25-yards range.

Just after the hour, powerhouse Les Davies beat two of his markers before sending a cross over from the left which Nefyn 'keeper Jones collected to the relief of the visiting defence.

Bangor's third goal of the afternoon duly arrived after 67 minutes with Les Davies again in the thick of the action. Anticipating uncertainty in the visitors defence, Bangor's number nine nipped in between the 'keeper and defender to slot home from a narrow angle to make the score 3-1 to the home side.

As the pace of the match noticeably dropped in the second-half heat, the next notable effort on goal saw Jamie Petrie's curling effort clear the Nefyn crossbar in the 72nd minute.

Three minutes later, substitute Benn Lundstram was introduced as the departing Petrie received a rapturous round of applause from the 400-strong crowd.

As the clock wound down, the spirited Nefyn frontline continued to sporadically threaten but were restricted to shots from distance as seasoned Bangor 1876 skipper Michael Johnston marshalled his young defence to perfection.

The final whistle blew and Bangor 1876 ensured a perfect start to their debut Gwynedd Football League campaign as the focus now moves to Bank Holiday Monday's visit to Llangoed.
