CPD Bangor 1876 FC hit double figures as they consign Caergybi FC to a heavy defeat at Treborth on Monday night.

Match Report by Ben Leggatt

Bangor 1876 enjoyed a memorable first home Gwynedd Football League fixture at Treborth, with an emphatic attacking display against visitors Caergybi FC.

Manager Mel Jones named an unchanged starting eleven from Saturday's FAW Trophy win over CPD Sychdyn. The first half began evenly as both sides enjoyed possession but struggled to create clear cut goalscoring chances.

However, that all changed after 20 minutes play as Bangor 1876 began to turn the screw, with Les Davies, Benn Lundstram and Jamie Petrie all going close in quick succession.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 33rd minute as Jamie Petrie applied the finish after Dylan Summers-Jones’ initial shot struck the woodwork.

Just a few minutes later Bangor 1876 doubled the lead when Saturday's hat-trick hero Dylan Summers-Jones fired home from the edge of the area.

After the break, the floodgates well and truly opened, as Dylan Summers-Jones scored his second of the match with a close range finish from a Jamie Petrie pull back.

The next goal arrived just three minutes later, as centre back Cian Williams expertly guided home Cameron Barry's curling free kick delivery for a 4-0 lead.

Jamie Petrie grabbed his second goal of the evening with a well-placed header from Barry's corner kick delivery after 64 minutes of play as the home side extended the advantage.

Dylan Summers-Jones then completed his second hat-trick in as many matches with a composed finish as he cut in from the right wing to make it 6-0 just two minutes later.

At this point the game was well and truly over as a contest but, undeterred, the home side continued their ruthless assault on the Caergybi goal. Midfielder Cameron Barry added a seventh goal in the 75th minute with a side-footed finish from six-yards after Les Davies' cutback from the byeline.

Left back Jos Lloyd's burst of speed through the middle found him one-on-one with Caergybi 'keeper Kieran Weeks, and the Pwllheli-based youngster rounded the goalie to make it 8-0 just two minutes later.

The impressive Jos Lloyd got his second of the match in the 84th minute, after a defence-splitting run by substitute Steff Taylor, whose initial shot was parried into Lloyd’s path by Caergybi keeper Weeks.

The icing on the cake arrived in injury time, as the inspirational Les Davies carried the ball the length of the pitch, before unselfishly passing to Leon Owens at the far post for a simple tap-in as the sixteen-year-old celebrated his first competitive goal for the club.
