Early on it was Bangor who made the brighter start, forcing a series of corner kicks, but none of the set pieces resulted in a clear opportunity. At the other end, a long through by Llay posed some problems but Bradley Farrar claimed the high ball.
With just over five minutes on the clock, Bangor came close to opening the scoring. Cai Powell-Roberts broke down the the right and played the ball towards the near post but Corrig McGonigle couldn't direct his shot on target.
In the sixteenth minute Bangor took the lead. A neat through ball by Corrig McGonigle allowed Mason Blackwell-Jones to break into the box and he scored well with a powerful low finish.
Llay sought to find a way back into the game and forced two corners just before the half hour mark. However, neither of the flag kicks resulted in a shot on target.
With ten minutes to go before half-time, Bangor doubled their advantage. A shot by Tom Mahoney broke to Harry Galeotti just inside the penalty area and the attacker found the net with a well-placed curling finish.
Five minutes later Galeotti came close to scoring again. A cross from Cai Powell-Roberts broke to him near the penalty spot and he fired in a powerful low volley that Mike Jones did well to save with his feet.
In first half injury time, Bangor added a third goal. Harry Galeotti swung in a corner from the left that was punched clear by Jones. The ball arrived in front of Mason Blackwell-Jones twenty yards out and he lobbed it back over Jones to score with a first time volley.
HALF-TIME: BANGOR 1876 3-0 LLAY WELFARE
Six minutes after the re-start, Bangor came close to extending their advantage. Corrig McGonigle played the ball into the box from a free-kick on the left. It was met powerfully by the head of Joe Culshaw but his attempt went over the bar as he sought to score for the second game in a row.
Shortly before the hour mark, Bangor again had an opportunity. A long ball forward allowed Corrig McGonigle to break into the box. He managed to lob the ball over Jones but it went just wide of the target. Tom Mahoney went close soon afterwards but couldn't keep his shot down.
With just over twenty minutes left, Bangor had the ball in the net again. However, Craig Whelan’s header was disallowed as James Barry had hooked the ball back across goal from an offside position.
The game went into something of a lull in the second half. Llay continued to press but struggled to create opportunities and force Bradley Farrar into many saves. They did threaten a couple of times in quick succession inside the last ten minutes but Farrar twice did well to save shots from close range.
At the start of injury time, substitute Sam Jones had a chance after cutting into the left of the box on a quick counter attack. His shot was on target but saved well by Mike Jones. There were no further chances of note as Bangor secured a win and a clean sheets for the second time in three days.
