On Saturday 2 March at 2pm, we have a home league match against Ruthin Town at Nantporth. After several recent away matches where we’ve enjoyed great support from our travelling fans, we’re looking forward to returning to Nantporth for our third last home match of the season.
This weekend’s opponents Ruthin are only one place behind us in the league, currently sitting in seventh place. In their last match against Llandudno on 16 February, they won a thrilling encounter 5-4 thanks to goals from Jason Clark, Jake Hughes-Hampson (2), Ethan Davies, and Charlie Williams. This came a week after goals from Jason Clark and Harry Martin secured a 2-1 win away to Chirk. Ruthin began February with a 3-2 loss at home to Airbus in which Tom Dyer opened the scoring with a penalty and Gwion Owen had levelled the score at 2-2 before the visitors scored the winning goal inside the final ten minutes.
We faced Ruthin at the Memorial Playing Fields back in early September. On that occasion, the hosts opened the scoring through Harry Martin deep into first half injury time and secured a 4-0 win thanks to second half goals from winger Soulayman El Amri (2) and striker Llyr Morris.
This weekend’s match is sure to be a tough encounter, so please come along to support our team. As well as supporting our side, we would like to encourage fans to support the fundraising efforts of local volunteers from Achub y Plant / Save the Children who will be holding a bucket collection at the game. Cash donations will be gratefully appreciated.
Please remember that our next game after this weekend is away to Prestatyn Town and will now take place on the revised date of Friday 8 March at 7.45pm.
