On Saturday 24 February we are away to Flint Town United in what promises to be a tough match. Please note that the game at the Essity Stadium kicks off at the earlier than usual time of 1pm. The ground’s postcode is CH6 5PJ and directions can be found on Flint’s club website: https://flinttownunited.co.uk/contact/.
Flint were in the Cymru Premier last season and in contention for a rapid return to the top flight. They are currently in third position in the league but have two games in hand on leaders Airbus. Flint’s 1-0 loss away to second placed Holywell on 10 February brought an end to a run of three consecutive wins in which they had scored three goals on each occasion. Flint have found the net 58 times in the league this season, a figure that has only been bettered by league leaders Airbus.
Flint have proven tough opposition on the two occasions we have faced them this season, both of which have been at Nantporth. On 11 November we welcomed this weekend’s opponents to our home ground for a Welsh Cup tie. Elliott Reeves gave the visitors the lead before our goalkeeper Carl Jones scrambled in a dramatic injury time equaliser. However, it was Flint who won after a penalty shootout.
In December we welcome Flint back to Nantporth for our last league match before Christmas. Flint scored twice in the first half through Jake Philipps and James Owen before Elliott Reeves and Josh Jones added further goals in the second half. Corrig McGonigle scored in the last ten minutes as the visitors ran out 4-1 winners.
With a tough match in store on Saturday, please make the trip along the A55 if you can.
