Goal in each half secures win

Bangor were first to threaten when Sam Jones latched onto an attempted clearance on the edge of the but his half volley went narrowly wide of the target.

At the other end, the visitors came close to opening the scoring direct from an inswinging corner from the left by Craig Williams but Huw Shaw managed to parry the ball away.

Caersws continued to threaten and had a great chance to take the lead following a quick counter attack. The ball reached Craig Harris in space at the back post, but he side-footed his shot over the bar.

Harry Cottam was next to threaten for the side from Mid Wales with a flicked header following a long throw-in by Jamie Jones but Shaw saved comfortably.

Just after the half hour mark, however, it was Bangor who took the lead. Harry Galeotti controlled a long ball forward, beat his man and played an inviting ball across the face of goal. It was side-footed in at the back post by Corrig McGonigle.

Some indecision in the Bangor defence gifted a chance to Rhys Hesden but his shot from 20 yards was easily caught by Shaw. Bangor immediately broke upfield and Corrig McGonigle fired a shot on the run narrowly wide from the left side of the penalty area.

Caersws continued to press for an equaliser and came close when Sam Phillips’s cross deflect off Joe Culshaw and looper just over the bar. From the resulting corner, Ashley Harries headed over at the back post from close range. There were no further chances of note before the break so Bangor returned to the changing rooms with a single goal lead.

Seven minutes into the second half, it was the visitors who had the first chance after the break. A cross was swung in from the right but headed over the bar by Neil Mitchell. Shortly afterwards, Rhys Hesden found space on the right of the area but his shot was saved by Huw Shaw.

As had happened in the first half, however, it was Bangor who found the net slightly against the run of play. After receiving the ball in a central position, Harry Galeotti dribbled left and played a neat pass to Sam Jones. Jones doubled 1876’s leaf with a well paced low shot across goal from the left side of the penalty area.

A few minutes later, Sam Jones came close to further extending Bangor's lead following a quick break but his rising shot from 25 yards cleared the crossbar.

With twenty minutes left, some neat passing saw Cai Powell-Roberts play the ball through to Corrig McGonigle. The prolific striker's shot from the right side of the area was on target but well saved by Steffan Jones. The rebound broke back to Cai Powell-Roberts but his shot missed the target.

In njury time, Caersws came close to getting a goal back when 11 fired in a powerful shot after Huw Shaw had punched the ball clear but Corey Jones managed to block the effort. Bangor held on to close out the game and secure another three points.
