At 2.30pm on Monday 28 August we return to league action with a bank holiday match at home to Prestatyn Town at Nantporth.
Although it will be our first ever match against the Seasiders, one of our most memorable games so far took place at their home ground Bastion Gardens. It was at this venue that we secured the 4-2 play-off win against Cefn Albion that clinched promotion to tier 2.
Prestatyn are currently ninth in the league having won one, drawn one, and lost two of their opening four fixtures in the JD Cymru North. They began the season with a win at home to Gresford in which Karl Clair scored the only goal. The following week, Prestatyn won on penalties against Flint Town United in the Nathaniel MG Cup after a late equaliser from captain Jonathon Cahill cancelled out the visitors’ first half goal.
Despite taking the lead through Tyler Magee in their next league match against Ruthin, they lost 2-1 after the visitors found the net twice in three minutes midway through the second half. The following week, Flint gained revenge for their Nathaniel MG Cup defeat at Bastion Gardens when a late winner at the Essity Stadium grabbed all three points in a game where Prestatyn substitute Dylan Dunn’s second half goal looked to have secured a draw. Last weekend, the Seasiders had a goalless draw at home to Caersws.
Monday’s match will be the first of two home games in a week as on Saturday 2 September we will host Guilsfield at Nantporth in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup. The kick-off will be at 2pm. As there is a private event in the clubhouse on the evening of 2nd September, part of the Function Room will be closed off in preparation. However, the rest of the room will be open as usual so supporters will still be able to enjoy refreshments from the bar. We would kindly ask that no one goes to the closed off area in the function room. Thank you for your understanding.
