This Saturday (19 August), we face our second league away trip of the season as we travel to face Mold Alexandra at Alyn Park. The match kicks off at 2.30pm. For those driving to the game, the postcode for the venue is CH7 1FT and a map of its location can be found online here: https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/moldalex/contact.
Mold Alexandra Football Club was founded in 1929 and played its first competitive match the following year. In 1992, it was one of the twenty founder members of the League of Wales. Mold was promoted to the JD Cymru North in 2022 after winning the Ardal Northwest league in 2021-22. Last season, the team held their own in tier 2 and finished in a highly respectable ninth place.
Saturday’s match will be the first home game of the season for Mold following three consecutive away trips. They began 2023-24 with a 2-1 defeat away to Buckley Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup in a game where teenage forward Eric Durnell found the net for them. Mold started their league campaign in a positive fashion with a 2-1 win away to Ruthin Town thanks to another goal from Eric Durnell and a further strike from Daniel Warren. Last weekend Mold lost 4-0 away to Caersws.
After Saturday’s match, our next game will be in the league at home to Prestatyn Town on the August Bank Holiday Monday (28 August, 2.30pm). On Saturday 2 September, we will welcome Guilsfield to Nantporth in a league cup match that kicks off at 2.30pm. Please come along to support our team at these games if you can as this exciting season progresses.
