McGonigle and Morris on the scoresheet

Early on it was Bangor 1876 who had the first chance when Jamie Petrie swung the ball into the box but Liam Morris' header was caught by Owain Roberts.

However, the visitors also attacked early ok and had a chance when Math Jones broke through the middle. After he was tackled just inside the area, the ball rolled into the path of a teammate who couldn't direct his effort on target.

Still inside the opening ten minutes, Liam Morris had a shot from the edge of the area that was parried by Roberts, but Corrig McGonigle was on hand to net the rebound and open the scoring.

Within a minute, McGonigle came close to adding a second with a free-kick from a tight angle to the right of the penalty area but GK denied him with a fine save.

McGonigle didn't have long to wait for his next opportunity. Just after the quarter hour mark, he broke into the visitors' penalty area after playing a one-two with Jamie Petrie and slotted the ball past Roberts with a calm finish to double the advantage.

McGonigle had a chance to complete his hat-trick midway through the opening period. However, he couldn't find the target with a shot on the run when he broke into the box following a neat pass by Gethin Thomas.

Shortly afterwards, Tom Clarke twice headed narrowly wide from corner kicks taken by Joe Culshaw. Jamie Petrie also came close to scoring when he exchanged passes with Liam Morris but his low shot was pushed away by Roberts.

As the last ten minutes of the first half approached McGonigle was inches away from completing his hat-trick. He turned just out the penalty area and his shot hit the underside of the bar and bounced away to safety.Nantlle then had a chance of their own after Cai Morgan cut in from the right but his low left-footed shot

Liam Morris then found himself at the heart of the action twice in quick succession. He fired in a shot from 20 yards that was well saved by Roberts. In the sequence of play that followed Corrig McGonigle laid the ball off to Morris near the penalty spot. Morris took a touch to beat his marker before firing the ball into net with a powerful low shot.

Inside the last five minutes of the half, Nantlle pulled a goal back after a neat passing move saw the ball worked towards Ashley Owen in space on the left side of the penalty area. Owen beat Carl Jones with a well-placed low shot.

In the minutes the followed, Nantlle twice came close to getting another goal back. Jamie Jones saw a snap shot well saved by Carl Jones and moments later Ashley Owen fired over from a promising position. In first half injury time, Jamie Jones brought out another sharp save from Carl Jones as the visitors threatened again.

HALF-TIME: BANGOR 1876 3-1 NANTLLE VALE

In the opening minutes of the second half, Liam Morris stung Roberts' palms with a shot that the visiting keeper gathered at the second attempt. At the other end, Aaron Griffiths had a speculative shot for Nantlle from wide on the left 35 yards out that went over the bar.

On the hour mark, Jamie Petrie had a chance when he broke into the visitors' box following a quickly taken free kick. However his effort was parried by Roberts.

Within a few minutes, Griffiths fired in a powerful shot from the left side of the penalty area for the visitors that was well parried by Carl Jones. The game then entered a period when the two sides cancelled each other out and opportunities at a premium.

Inside the last ten minutes, Ashley Owen had a chance inside the box but Carl Jones came out to smother his shot. The visitors continued to press in the closing stages but were largely unable to create further chances as Bangor secured an important victory.
