At 2.30pm on Saturday 15 April, we play Llandudno Albion at Treborth in our third last league match of the season. Although the game is technically an away fixture, it will be taking place at Treborth’s 3G pitch due to Llandudno Albion’s home pitch being out of commission at the moment.
We played Llandudno Albion in the league back at the start of February in what turned out to be a high-scoring and entertaining encounter. Two goals from Tom Clarke and one from Corrig McGonigle provided us with a three goal half-time advantage. However, the visitors created a tense finish thanks to goals within the last ten minutes from Daniel Evans and Jamie Moorhouse. It took an injury time free-kick from Corrig McGonigle to settle the nerves of home fans and secure a 4-2 victory.
Sadly, Albion announced later in February that they will fold at the end of the season and cited among the factors their inability to secure a ground for next season. Their departure will be a sad loss for North Wales football given what they have achieved on the pitch and within their local community. We would like to wish their players, coaches and volunteers well for the future.
Since the announcement that this will be their last season, Llandudno Albion have put in some performances that have led to them achieving positive results such as a draw at home to Llanrwst United and a win away to Hawarden Rangers.
As our game against Llandudno Albion this Saturday is officially an away game, Bangor 1876 season tickets will not be valid despite the match taking place at Treborth. Consequently, all Bangor 1876 fans will need to pay on the gate and will need to do so using cash only. The cafe in the pavilion will be open.
After this Saturday’s match, we will only have two more league matches left. They will be at home to Nantlle Vale on Friday 28 April at 7.45pm and at home to Hawarden Rangers at 2.30pm on Saturday 6 May. Please come along to support our team at this crucial stage of the season where remains much to play for.
