Llandudno Albion preview 03 February 2023

On Friday 3 February at 7.45pm, we host Llandudno Albion at Treborth in a league match. Although it will be our first match against Albion, it will be our third against a team from Llandudno. During our debut season of 2019-20, we played at home to the sadly now defunct Llandudno Athletic and in a pre-season match before the start of this term we travelled to face Llandudno FC.

In our 4-1 Welsh Cup victory at home to Llandudno Athletic in August 2019, the visitors took the lead through Lee Stokes. Stokes now plays for our upcoming opponents Llandudno Albion and has scored five times for them this season.

Llandudno Albion are currently twelfth in the league although only a point behind eleventh placed Saltney Town. Albion have played three times since the start of the year, beginning with a 2-0 defeat at home to Denbigh. However, they soon bounced back with a 2-1 win at home to Saltney Town where they came from behind to clinch a victory thanks to late goals from Adam Hold and Lee Stokes. Last Saturday, Albion lost 5-1 at home to Rhyl.

Albion have made several signings during the January transfer window, including goalkeeper Ash Lavender from Conwy Borough. Their squad has been further bolstered by the return of midfielder Luke Fountain and the arrival of defender Matthew Twigg.

Treborth is likely to be busy on Friday evening as there is an athletics event taking place on the running track. It would really help to manage the traffic flow if supporters attending the game on Friday could either arrive before 7pm or after 7.15pm.

Please note that our following league game on Saturday 11 February will now be away to Llay Welfare (2pm kick-off) instead of the previously scheduled home match against Nantlle Vale.
