Match Preview

On Friday 17 February at 7.45pm, we welcome Llangefni to Treborth for a league match. Due to the way many of our fixtures that appear on our website are populated automatically via a fixture database, in some places the kick-off time may be wrongly listed as 9.45pm. We are aware Friday night matches under the lights at Treborth are popular with many fans, but we're sure you'll be relieved to learn that we're not planning to experiment with starting them shortly before the 10pm news.

When we played away to Llangefni at Cae Bob Parry in early December, there were plenty of goals in a league match played in wintery conditions. Although we ultimately won 7-2 following a flurry of second half goals, the hosts took the lead and the game was finely poised at the break as we went in 3-2 ahead.

Since that encounter in December, Llangefni have been in good form. On 17 December, they won 2-1 away to Flint Mountain thanks to a double from Dewi Thomas. Just under a fortnight later, Llangefni completed 2022 with a 3-1 victory at home to Y Felinheli thanks to another goal from Dewi Thomas as well as further strikes from Matthew Jones and former Bangor 1876 player Leon Owens.

Llangefni have drawn all three of their league matches so far in 2023. Goals from Matty Jones and Iwan Sawicz ensured a share of the points at Felinheli after Llangefni had twice been behind before finishing level at 2-2. Matty Jones scored again in a 1-1 draw at home to Llangefni before last week's goalless draw at home to Brickfield Rangers.

At our match against Llangefni, we will once again be holding a collection for the Bangor Cathedral Foodbank. A list of the foods that they currently require can be found online here. We are also happy to receive financial donations and pass them on to the foodbank along with the food items. We would once again like to thank all supporters - both of our team and visiting fans - who have generously supported our foodbank collections this season.

This Friday’s match has all the makings of an exciting encounter. With a large crowd expected and several other events taking place at Treborth, our car park is likely to be busy. Please could supporters car share where possible and aim to arrive either before 7pm or after 7.15pm The clubhouse will be open as usual and we will be selling a range of beers as well as soft drinks, hot drinks, and light refreshments.
