Just after the quarter hour mark, a third goal did arrive. Ben Owen took a quick throw-in on the right to give Jamie Petrie a chance to run into the right side of the area. Petrie struck a first-time shot on the run which went over home goalkeeper Joe Lawlor and into the top corner.
As the midway point of the opening period approached, Brickfield came close to getting a goal back. A long free-kick was played into the box towards Elson Bassangue. The defender turned well and fired in a powerful shot that brought out an excellent save from Carl Jones who parried the ball away for a corner.
With ten minutes to go before the break, the hosts had another attempt on goal but Ellis Hickey's shot from 25 yards was caught by Carl Jones.
