On Saturday 14 October at 2.30pm, we welcome Cefn Albion to Nantporth for a Welsh Cup match.
Cefn Albion are a team we encountered on 27 May this year in one of the most significant and memorable games in our club’s history. In the Lockstock Ardal North League Play-off final at Bastion Gardens in Prestatyn, we overcame the side from the Wrexham area 4-2 after extra time. Early second half goals from Corrig McGonigle and Tom Clarke looked to have put us in control, but within the last five minutes of normal time a long range strike from Ryan Kershaw and a penalty from Ryan Kehoe levelled the score. In extra time, Cefn Albion struck the crossbar before Liam Morris restored our advantage with a shot from 20 yards before Corrig McGoingle scored his second of the afternoon from the penalty spot.
At the time of writing, Cefn Albion are fourth in the Lock Stock Ardal North East League after having won five and lost two of their opening seven fixtures. Last Saturday they enjoyed a 2-0 league win away to Llanfair United thanks to goals from Callum Stephens and Alex Williams.
As Saturday’s game is a Welsh Cup match, please note that season tickets are not valid and all fans will have to pay at the gate. Please come along to Nantporth for what promises to be an exciting fixture.
The clubhouse at Nantporth will be showing the Wales against Argentina match in the Men's Rugby World Cup, so you'll be able to follow two exciting sporting events on the same day and at the same venue.
