Message from our chairman Glynne Roberts

There is finally talk of football re-starting, and we know that some dates in July have been announced for cup competitions. Once we have more certainty, the club will make sure that we communicate the key dates and timescales.

In thinking about everything starting up again, we also need to look at what else the club can offer. As a Community Interest Company, Bangor 1876 was set up to work with the local community to the benefit of the local community, and as the new season approaches, we would like to consider additional ways in which we can support our community. There are certainly going to be challenging times ahead.

Since the club was established, we have contributed to a number of local charities, and we are keen to develop this aspect of the club’s support for the community, and to work with a wide range of organisations.

It is therefore proposed to establish the 1876 Challenge Fund to work with local charitable organisations to ensure that there is regular dialogue, understanding, and agreement on the priorities for the Fund, and that we can make a real difference.

The club’s main strength is our incredible fan-base, and the intention of the Fund is to involve the fans in creating and operating the Fund.

Managed by the fans, the Fund would be responsible for raising money and agreeing on how to distribute the funds in a manner that meets the club’s and community-identified priorities.

To support the Fund, the club will look towards creating regular opportunities for charitable fundraising each season to bolster the 1876 Challenge Fund, working with supporters and the wider community to create income-generation opportunities. And with the supporters’ input, a whole range of activities can be organised to involve as many people as possible.

This is a real opportunity to build an exciting way for our football family to support the community and make a real difference.
