Dafydd Hughes relays thanks from family

Vera’s daughter, Jackie, has asked that we thank the Club’s supporters for the wreath, and all their expressions of sympathy and donations in her memory, it meant so much to the family.

The family is also agreable to the University’s suggestion that the stand at Treborth be named the “Vera Owen Stand”, and that a framed shirt be displayed in the Pavilion where she was such an important presence on match days as she looked after the players, match officals, and visiting teams. As most will know, Vera worked in the University’s Accommodation Department for some years.

At its meeting on 13 January, the Club board agreed to make a donation to the good causes which are dear to the family’s hearts. When circumstances allow, and in the presence of the family, and fellow supporters, the Club will acknowledge Vera’s massive contribution to football in the Bangor area with a simple ceremony at Treborth when, it is hoped, the naming can take place and some of her ashes scattered.

Thanks for the memories.
