Another league away trip coming up

We have another away match coming up on Saturday (13 August) when we travel to Rhostyllen for a game that kicks off at 2.30pm. It will be the first time that we have played a competitive match in the Wrexham area and is certainly another away trip to look forward to.

Rhostyllen shares with Bangor the fact that it is a place whose first football team was founded during the 1870s. Whilst 1876 saw the founding of the first football club in Bangor, 1879 was the year when the first side in Rhostyllen was created.

The current team in Rhostyllen were formed in 2015 and possess some intriguing similarities with Bangor 1876. They too gained successive promotions in their first two full seasons by virtue of winning the league in which they played in their first season, and finishing second in the league in which they participated in their second season.

Rhostyllen began this season with a Welsh Cup defeat on penalties at home to New Brighton Villa FC. In their first league match of the season, they lost 4-2 away to Rhyl after being 2-1 ahead at half-time.

For fans travelling to Saturday’s game who are looking for a place to stop beforehand, we can recommend the Old Black Horse pub in Rhostyllen. There will be bacon baps as well as sausage and chips available pre-match from about 12.30pm. Parking is available at the pub, which is located about 200 yards from the ground.

If you are travelling to the match on our supporters’ coach, please remember that it will leave Bangor Rail Station at 11am. At the time of writing, there were a few seats still available. If you would like to know if this is still the case, please contact Dave Roberts (07517 482182) as soon as possible.

The address of Rhostyllen’s ground is: The Rec, Vicarage Hill, Rhostyllen, Wrexham, LL14 4AR. A map can be found on their website at the following address: https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/rhostyllen/contact.

Our team were certainly spurred on by fantastic away support at Llanrwst earlier this week so it would be great to see more of the same in Rhostyllen on Saturday.
