FAW Trophy tie next up for 1876

This weekend we’re going to see more of Llay when we face the Wrexham area side at Treborth for the second time this season. When we met them in the league on 27 August, we played out an exciting 2-2 draw after having trailed 2-0 at half-time.

Saturday’s match will definitely see a winner emerge as it is a cup fixture taking place in the FAW Trophy. In the tournament so far this season, we have secured wins away to Meliden and Llanystumdwy as well as at home to Glantraeth. Llay Welfare have seen off Y Felinheli at home as well as coming out on top away to Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant and Llangollen Town.

This weekend’s game will also be our last home fixture before Christmas, so an ideal opportunity to do some early festive shopping for the 1876 fans in your life. In keeping with a tradition that started in the run up to Christmas during our first season, we will also be doing a food bank collection at the game so would very much appreciate donations.

Due to the ongoing cost of living crisis, there is increasing demand for food banks so we are keen to continue to support the one operated locally by Bangor Cathedral. It will be possible to drop off donations in the clubhouse at Saturday’s match and a list of what the cathedral food bank currently needs can be found online here: https://www.bangorfoodbank.org/donations.

We look forward to welcoming fans of both sides to this weekend’s game. A range of beers, soft drinks, and other light refreshments will be available in our clubhouse. Please come along to Treborth for what promises to be an exciting encounter.
