FAW Trophy away trip awaits

Following our recent league wins at home to Llanberis and away to Gwalchmai, we return to cup action this weekend. We're heading to county Conwy this Saturday (11 September) for a match away to Llannefydd in the Fourth Round of the FAW Trophy. Please note that this match will kick off at 2pm.

Llannefydd were formed in 1998 and currently play in the North Wales Coast East League Premier Division. They are currently second in the league and two points behind leaders Prestatyn Sports having won five, drawn one and lost one of their seven matches.

In the FAW Trophy this season, Llannefydd began by being awarded a tie they were due to play away to Henllan in Round One as the hosts were unable to play on the scheduled date due to Covid. In the Second Round, Llannefydd won 6-1 at home to Caer Clwyd. They followed this up win an impressive 3-1 victory away to Rhayader Town in Round Three a fortnight later.

Llanefydd have achieved some notable cup successes in the last few years. In the 2016-17 season, they won both the Premier Auxiliary Cup and the Normal Precision Premier Cup in addition to reaching the final of the President's Cup. It was quite a season for the team as they were also Welsh Alliance League Division Two champions and thus completed a treble.

Our FAW Trophy campaign this season got underway with a 4-0 win away to Blaenau Ffestiniog and continued with a 9-2 victory at home to Amlwch. This was followed by a 5-2 win at home to Halkyn and Flint Mountain.

Fans driving to the game from Bangor by car should head eastbound along the A55 and turn off at Bodelwyddan (junction 25). Please note that anyone traveling by bus or minibus will instead need to drive towards St. Asaph and then travel via Trefnant and Henllan. The route from Bodelwyddan to Llannefydd is not suitable for large vehicles such as buses or minibuses.

We have been informed by Llannefydd that parking will be available in the village approximately 200m away from the ground. There is some parking available at the ground, and volunteers and the ground will be able to direct drivers to alternative parking locations once this is full. The postcode for the village is LL16 5EA and Google Maps suggests that the car journey from Bangor should take approximately 55 minutes. Admission to the game will cost £3 and will be free for under-16s.

We have also been advised that the local pub and restaurant, the Hawk & Buckle, will unfortunately not be open to the public on matchday as it is hosting a wedding that is being filmed for an S4C programme. Please could fans travelling to the game via the supporters minibuses remember that alcohol is not permitted on the minibuses.

However, the good news for fans wanting to stop off for a some pre-match refreshments is that the Llindir Inn in nearby Henllan will be open from 11.45am. Snacks and drinks will be available and we have been advised that the inn is approximately 15 minutes from Llannefydd. The minibuses travelling to the game will be stopping off at the Llindir Inn en route.

We've had great support home and away in the FAW Trophy so far this season, so please make the trip to Llannefydd if you can!
