Another August away win on Anglesey

Bangor 1876 completed their August fixtures with their third league away win on Anglesey, but were made to work hard by a Gwalchmai side who contributed to an entertaining encounter.

Within the opening ten minutes, 1876 had several chances. First of all Chris Jones had an effort saved by Konner Druce. Shortly afterwards, Sam Roberts came close after he lobbed the ball over the home keeper but a Gwalchmai defender managed to clear.

At the other end, it wasn't long before the hosts had an opportunity to take the lead. Connor Owen broke into the box and had only the goalkeeper to beat, but Mark Hawkins pulled of an excellent save with his feet. The ball then broke to another Gwalchmai player on the edge of the box who fired a powerful shot just over the bar from 20 yards.

For much of the opening period, 1876 enjoyed plenty of possession but had few clear-cut opportunities as their opponents defended resolutely. On occasion, the hosts also threatened on the break.

However a goal arrived ten minutes before half-time when Les Davies finished well after neat interplay with Sam Roberts.

HALF-TIME: Gwalchmai 0-1 Bangor 1876

Seven minutes into second period, 1876 doubled their advantage thanks to a clinical finish by Jamie Petrie from the edge of the box. Sam Roberts provided his second assist of the afternoon with the crucial pass following a throw-in by Les Davies.

Shortly before the hour mark, Joe Culshaw came close to scoring 1876's third but his effort was parried away for a corner by home keeper Konner Druce.

A third goal did arrive for Bangor inside the last ten minutes when Harry Galeotti ran down the left before sending in a well-directed cross that allowed Les Davies to powerfully head in his second goal of the afternoon at the back post.

With four minutes left on the clock, Les Davies completed his hat-trick with the goal of the game. An early kick up field by Mark Hawkins found Davies in space on the right side of the field and he found the net with a deft lob.

Gwalchmai kept going and show little sign of tiring on a sunny afternoon. In the final minute and f normal time, Connor Owen broke through the middle and managed to latch onto a ball forward ahead of 1876 goalkeeper Mark Hawkins. However, the striker's touch took him wide and he was unable to finish before the keeper and several defenders closed down the space and denied him a goal.

In injury time, substitute Cameron Barry had an opportunity to add a fifth goal for 1876 after the ball reached him on the right side of the penalty area. However, his rising shot cleared the crossbar and there were no further goals.

FINAL SCORE: Gwalchmai 0-4 Bangor 1876
