Three goals and three points for 1876

Three goals under the floodlights at Treborth secured another three points for Bangor 1876 at home to Llanberis.

The first goal arrived shortly after the quarter hour mark when Cameron Barry played in a cross from the left wing. It was controlled at the back post by Les Davies, who then unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that visiting goalkeeper Ben Jones got a hand to but couldn't keep out.

Shortly afterwards, Jamie Petrie thought he had added a second but his effort was disallowed as he was adjudged to be offside. It remained 1-0 at the break.

HALF-TIME: Bangor 1876 1-0 Llanberis

Llanberis made a determined start to the second period and made more incursions into the Bangor half.

Around the hour mark, there were chances at both ends. First of all, Cameron Barry stung the palms of the visiting keeper with a powerful shot from the right side of the penalty area after the ball was played into his path by Jamie Petrie.

At the other end, Llanberis came close to an equaliser when a ball from the left eluded the Bangor defence but no-one from the visiting side managed to turn the ball home and the chance was gone.

Shortly afterwards, Les Davies sent in a curling shot from just outside the right side of the Llanberis penalty area but it was saved.

As the midpoint of the second period approached, Bangor doubled their lead. Chris Jones played the ball into the box to Les Davies who held it up we'll before playing it into the path of on-rushing midfielder Cameron Barry who scored with a composed finish.

With just over 20 minutes left, Chris Jones almost added a third but visiting keeper Ben Jones got his fingertips to the attacker's attempted lob and the ball went out for a corner.

When the ball was swung in from the right it reached Chris Jones at the back post and he found the net with a powerful half-volley.

Llanberis didn't lose heart and continued to press. They came close to scoring with 15 minutes left when striker Tomos Saynor fired off a powerful effort from the edge of the penalty area that rattled the crossbar.

In the final minute of normal time, 1876 almost added a fourth goal but Chris Jones's cross from the right hand side just eluded Jamie Petrie as he made a run into the box.

In injury time substitute Tom Clarke strode forward and flicked the ball over a Llanberis defender before firing a shot just wide from the right side of the penalty area.
