Now that the season is over, we can look back and reflect on what was, in effect, our first completed season since we were formed three years ago.

Whilst finishing second would have been a great achievement for most clubs, it came as a disappointment to us, because we had worked so hard to gain automatic promotion. Unfortunately for us, we came up against a well-equipped Bodedern side, who managed to pip us to the title. We have made an application to be considered for Tier 3, so let’s hope that not all opportunities are closed to us.

Overall, however, it was a very successful season. We played magnificently to win the League Cup, and still have the Intermediate Challenge Cup Final to look forward to. But the main thing for me is that we came out of the pandemic relatively unscathed. Crowds started to come back, the team performed well, and we managed to make sure we’re in a good place to kick on again next season.

I have to pay tribute to the players and coaching staff. Dylan laid firm foundations at the start of the season, and Johno has really taken to the role following his appointment. The coaching and medical team around him have worked tirelessly, and have all played their part. On the pitch, the players have given everything, which is all we can ask for. We are really fortunate to have such talent around us.

We are hoping to have a presentation evening soon – we waited until the end of the season before arranging this. Please look out for details, and come along to pay tribute to the team for all they have achieved.

In looking forward, we hope to foster closer links with the Women’s teams, and to develop our junior section. As a fan owned club, we are also keen to foster closer links with the local community, and hope to develop a programme over the next season to enhance those links.

To achieve our ambitions, we need everyone on board. Please come forward if you want to volunteer to support any of the areas we’re supporting. Bangor 1876 is about all of us working together.
