Through to next round of FAW Trophy

At a sun-drenched Cae Clyd, Bangor 1876 secured a 4-0 win away to Tier 3 side Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs.

The opening goal arrived early on as Les Davies found space on the left side of the penalty area and powered home a left-footed strike.

Soon afterwards, beaded chances from Cameron Barry and Corey Jones came close to increasing the advantage.

Shortly before the midway point in the opening period, Gethin Thomas created space on the right side of the Blaenau penalty area but his shot went over the bar.

The same player had another choice around the half hour mark when he managed to lob the ball over the goalkeeper but unfortunately also the crossbar.

In the last fifteen minutes of the first half, it was the hosts' turn to fashion a few chances. A long range shot went narrowly wide before Gethin Roberts' diving header was saved by Mark Hawkins.

With five minutes to go before the interval, Chris Jones broke through the middle and had a chance to double 1876's lead. He looked set to round the goalkeeper but his shot was deflected narrowly wide for a corner.

However, Jones made no mistake just before the interval when he converted Cameron Barry's cross from the right with a glancing header that doubled 1876's lead.

HALF TIME: Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 0-2 Bangor 1876

In the second period, Bangor 1876 passed the ball round well as they sought to create openings against a well-organised Blaenau side.

Five minutes into the second half, Les Davies came close to increasing 1876's advantage but his powerful effort was skillfully tipped over by home goalkeeper Cian Williams.

A few minutes after the drinks break midway through the second half, Blaenau had a chance to reduce the deficit but their attacker slightly scuffed his shot and it went wide.

With a quarter of an hour left, a flowing move led to Cameron Barry's shot being deflected narrowly wide for a corner. Chris Jones had a further chance to extend the advantage with ten minutes left but missed the target.

However, the third goal did arrive in the 81st minute when Cameron Barry broke down the right and cut the ball back. Gethin Thomas finished well with his right foot to cap a fine performance.

With two minutes of the game left, Chris Jones scored his second with a calm finish after a neat through ball from Les Davies.
